10 Things I am Most Thankful For living in New Orleans
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a time I get to see and touch my family near and afar. This weekend is booked with kids birthday parties, including one of mine. We have 3 birthday parties this weekend, including my daughter’s. We are also planning on hosting thanksgiving by my house this year. Somebody better be bringing the alcohol.
Here’s a (not so short) list of things I am thankful for in New Orleans.
What are you most thankful for in New Orleans?
Oh my Squash! Welcome to New Orleans. I have been following True Food kitchen for a while. Once the story broke online, I stalked them. I had been wanting to try the food for the longest. I was invited to a soft opening, but my schedule wouldn't allow me to visit. Let's just say, I had a little fun with the camera in this beautiful restaurant. I like the spacious seating and paintings on the wall. The building is on Julia and St. Charles, can't miss it.
Vegan and Gluten friendly, they can also customize food for keto and paleo needs.
I also noticed those TVs by the bar area. It's not necessary, but it's a 'nice to have' item in a restaurant. It allows the guests to watch sports etc.
I wanted to try everything on the menu but, somehow narrowed it down. Definitely get a kale, ginger, apple, celery, cucumber and lemon it is well worth it for that energy boost.
I enjoyed the Salad made with Seasonal ingredient with Salmon. Butternut squash, cauliflower, brussels sprout, cannellin bean, organic kale, champagne vinaigrette, toasted mulberry, pomegranate. I am obsessed with brussels, so I really enjoyed this.
The Pizza was really good, it has Butternut squash made with caramelized onion, roasted garlic organic kale vegan, almond ricotta, dried cranberry and sage. The pizza has a unique taste and I especially liked the onion and garlic with cranberry.
The Graas - fed Burger was the best. It has Unami, mushrooms, caramelized onion, arugula, Parmesan, mayonnaise, flaxeed bun. I didn't have any guilt eating that burger. It was just GOOD!
For dessert, we shared a Flourless Chocolate Cake with caramel, almond, vanilla ice cream and cacao. It has a very light but rich chocolate taste.
For cocktails, we had the Juniper Rose, which was rose - infused gin, lime, grapefruit and tyme. It's a girly drink and tastes so fresh. The Rosé Sangria was made with organic rose' wine, spiced brandy, pineapple and lime. I enjoyed this drink because it was larger than the others. The Pom Collins was made with lemon - infused vodka, organic aloe liquer and pomegranate. I will definitely be back for the Pom Collins because I really like VODKA.
I definitely give this place high ratings in all areas. Give them a visit.

I visited the George Rodrigue Gallery to get the First Look at the new private event space. It is gorgeous! I love the art and the colors.
This space is perfect for private events (showers, weddings etc). The Gallery is located on 730 Royal Street. The view from the rooftop is beautiful.
The events manager can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
I can't wait to visit the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts event space, as soon as it opens. It will be located on 747 Magazine Street.
Some ladies and I recently met for a Friendsgiving dinner. Where did we meet up? Bourbon Street at Galatoire’s 33 Steak & Chop. Bourbon Street is a known tourist attraction in New Orleans that has a reputation for never ending partying.. Most locals rarely go to Bourbon, but when we do it is usually quite a treat. It's actually lots of fun to head down there during the week. This night was dedicated to a Girls Night Out/Friendsgiving that was quite the night to remember. The table setting was perfect for the fall season and the women were an amazing group of lifestyle bloggers, food bloggers and travel bloggers.
During our Friendsgiving we shared our narratives and gave advice on working in the blogging space. We discovered some differences and many similarities, among the group. It was empowering to sit at a table with like-minded women with similar goals. We definitely shared our love for food. The camera eats first and the term drop it like it’s hot was definitely intended for some good hot Galatoire’s bread and butter.
Our discussions ranged from everything about food trends i.e. chicken sandwiches, upcoming festivals and events, astrology, family, our 2020 vision boards, social media updates and the new Kanye. We went around the table to share what we were most thankful for. All the ladies shared a common belief that we were so thankful to have this platform meet that allowed us to meet one another. We definitely agreed that we need to do more dinners like this.
The service at Galatoire’s was excellent. The atmosphere was busy but they were all so attentive to our needs. We ate at the Galatoire’s 33 Steak and Bar. There is also another Galatoire’s next door that is more formal. The lighting and chandeliers, in the restaurant, are enchanting and the décor is simply beautiful.
After our Friendsgiving, I became more inspired to write about some of the ultimate Girls Night Out spots. Galatoire’s is definitely #1 stop for dinner (first). I have so much to share with y'all..If your crew wants to start downtown, uptown and maybe end in the Treme’, this is a good first stop. Head to Bourbon Street to catch some city lights first.
The Galatoire’s Rose' Cocktail was definitely a favorite. The recipe is Galatoire’s Sparkling Rosé, Aperol, Passion Fruit Syrup and Lemon Juice. The drink is so good and perfect for the season. I highly recommend it.
We all agreed that variety was the spice of life and decided to mix up the appetizers and sides topped with Au Poivre, Béarnaise Marchand de Vin Hollandaise and Horseradish Créme Bordelaise sauce.
We enjoyed a spread of APPETIZERS consisting of Louisiana Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, (Insider Tip: these are REALLY good). I am obsessed with the Crystal Remoulade and Preserved Lemon sauce. We also indulged in the Baked Oysters, we ordered a mix of Casino and Rockefeller. My favorite is the Rockefeller. We also ordered some Steak Tartare and French Onion Soup. A few of the ladies ordered salads. All of the salads are good here but the Ice Berg wedge is particularly good.
Let’s get into the entrée’s! Steak & Chops, Poultry, Fresh Seafood anyone?
A few of us ordered the Gulf Fish. This was my favorite. The crabmeat meuniere is AMAZING here.
We also plate shared with the sides. Some of our choices were the Brown Butter Mushrooms, Brussels Sprouts (which I am currently obsessed with), Green Beans, Collard Greens, Potatoes and Lobster au gratin. I am particularly fond of the Lobster, Brussels and Mushrooms.
I highly recommend Galatoires for a fun girls night out, date night or dinner with the family. Cheers to making AMAZING memories with AMAZING friends and families and RESTAURANTS like Galatoire's 33 Bar & Steak.

It was Fall Back Sunday, I like most Americans got that extra hour and woke up early. I looked at the clock and went to the kitchen. I thought about dusting off the stove and looked at my husband. He was watching sports and playing with the kids. It's a Saints BYE week, so no football on the TV this week for me. We have had a pretty high profile season and we are WINNING. I decided to rally up the team and get a brunch squad going. The roster included: Mommy, Daddy, Wesley & Maddie. Next weekend we play the Atlanta Falcons, so we are trying to take Sean Payton's advice. He says "We've got to get our Bloody Marys going before early kickoff.
Maddie insisted on playing with Elmo most of the morning. I still have that Sesame Street song in my head. What's the letter of the day? I screamed B for Brunch. We headed out to Ruby Slipper on 2700 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70001.
I heard so many great things about the new location and wanted to see what the hype was about. We joined the waitlist on Yelp. I wanted to get some brunch before the Bloody Mary Festival. The wait was about 45 minutes. Be prepared to wait. You can enjoy one of those delicious drinks while waiting. There were a few drinks that caught my eyes - The Ruby Mimosa, Morning Margarita, Brandy Milk Punch, Boozy Iced Coffee and Belini. I enjoyed the Bloody Mary. Tip: I heard the Margarita was REALLY packed!!
The service was excellent at this restaurant. The manager Jerry and his team should be highly commended. It's a busy and fast paced environment. It takes hard work to work in this environment.
What we ordered:
Taste of Ruby Slipper featuring Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles & Shrimp Boogaloo was all DAT! Y’all this food fed me and the kids for $20! Each item had a unique taste and was good. The Chicken St Charles was my fave and the Shrimp Boogaloo was flavored well. Just a quirk, I like hot sauce and the Ruby Slipper special butter on my brunch biscuits!! BRING ON THE HOT SAUCE! !This was great!
Eggs & Omlets 🍽
Hot smoked salmon and goat cheese, topped with dill hollandaise, red onions & flash fried capers with grits & cheese. Oooh, and that homemade butter is bomb! You have to try the butter!!
Ok, y'all, Ruby Slipper is definitely at the top of my Brunch list and I am telling all my friends. Congrats to Ruby Slipper on winning the Bloody Mary Festival 'Best original recipe and Best restaurants and bars. You certainly deserve it.
They are open Monday - Friday: 7am-2pm
Saturday & Sunday: 7am-3pm
I didn't realize how many locations there were in the city and surrounding areas.
Mid City, Old Metairie, Marigny, Downtown (CBD), Canal, Decatur, Uptown, Alabama, Baton Rouge, Pensacola, Orange Beach.

Thanks to Ruby Slipper Cafe for the remarkable service especially from Jerry and Ashley! This is another welcome addition to the area.
We really enjoyed the Bloody Mary’s and the food. We plan on coming back again soon and I will definitely try that Margarita.
