Beauty with Tawana Laurant
I recently ran into my classmate from elementary school at a Sip & Shop hosted by Tracey Wiley.
We started discussing plans and she shared her beauty tips. I always want to know blow-by-blow from an expert on anything lifestyle related. I LOVE getting exclusives about beauty secrets. I always view Tawana's vivid IG stories (link below). Tawana has her beauty regimen down to a T. Her Coiffed Life is on point. Tawana is also a hair stylist in the New Orleans area at www.traellesalon.com/
What is the one product you could not go without?
I just can't live with out a Retinol! I am obsessed and fully consumed with it. Retinol has made the biggest difference in my skin - from its texture, and breakouts, to fine lines and pore size..it gets the job done. I really hope they never find any adverse effects, because I will be in trouble! If I could bathe in it, I probably would....
Favorite Makeup brand?
I honestly don’t have one. I am an equal opportunist and I don’t discriminate when it comes to makeup. I like them all and I’m always trying something different. I never stick to one thing long enough to even give it a chance to be my favorite.
Who is your style inspiration?
Right now, I am inspired daily by Athena Calderone. She is a wife, mom, interior designer, author , creator of the lifestyle blog eye-swoon.com/and she does it all effortlessly chic. I feel like she’s honest and true to her design style in both her home and fashion and I can’t get enough.
Your go-to hair products for all hair types?
When it comes to hair I think that moisture can cure all. I feel like every head can benefit from a serum, oil and a moisture restorative conditioner. I’m also certain that a dry shampoo can make all the difference in the world on those days that your hair is "just not acting right". It cuts the grease, adds volume, and helps when trying to create that "in between shampoos" ponytail.
What is your top beauty tip?
I swear, I’m learning new tips and tricks all the time, but the one I’m taking advantage of the most is my Ice roller. It is something to be said about ice on the face first thing in the morning. It goes hand and hand with my cup of coffee. It takes away all the puffiness in my face and around my eyes. It also helps create a good base for makeup. It also feels really good.
Random fact about myself?
I absolutely, positively, HATE getting my nails done! I hate everything about it. The second I walk in and the smell hits me I am instantly overcome with anxiety. There is nothing relaxing about it to me. Having to go into a nail salon for me is so stressful. It’s such a chore! Just sitting there being held captive while watching other people get their feet scrubbed. Drives me crazy!
If you could only choose to do one before leaving the house, would you do your hair or your makeup?
I would definitely do my hair. When your hair is good, you feel good. Feeling good is key to looking good...... and a nice cold ice roller!
Beauty products I couldn’t live without?
Well, how much time do you have . The list goes on and on. A good concealer, mascara because I have no lashes. I need moisturizer and a facial oil. I use both because I’m super dry and I love a dewy finish. And I may or may not abuse blush. I can’t go with out it, I literally have to make myself put the blush brush down. I don’t know when to stop!
