Ok y’all week #1 for me working from home 100%. Social distancing much? I have been in the grocery looking for items way more than ever.. trying to figure out how this will work, homeschool two kids and take non stop conference calls. Keeping up in HR, laws are changing every day.
I am finally going to start working out during the day and use my gas $$ to support local businesses..
HELPFUL TIPS FOR WORKING FROM HOME
1. Get Dressed
It might seem like a simple tip, but it’s a crucial one. I am getting used to this with video conference calls. They are emphasizing getting up and getting dressed. It also makes me feel like I can get more accomplished by dressing the part.
2. Designate a Workspace or Home Office
One of the big challenges when it comes to working remotely is setting boundaries between work and play. I just got my office together today and I feel like I accomplished something. The kids are still running in and out but I am about to kick the to the curb.
3. Keep Clearly Defined Working Hours
I am trying to work the same schedule with my HR colleagues. They are on a 9 hour workday and half day on Fridays. I really like that.. It is important to be on the same schedule because it helps us collaborate better. I am trying to not check emails and come to this office all throughout the day. I know there will be some days when I have to.
4. distractions will f you up!!
Distraction is one of the big challenges facing people who work from home—especially people who aren’t used to it. My home is right here, I feel the need to wash those dirty dishes the kids just piled up or fold that laundry. I also want to go outside and do a little gardening. That will have to wait until my break. I am trying to set timers on my Outlook to take those mini breaks and get that workout in.
Right now, one of the biggest distractions is the news. And if you’re working remotely because of the new coronavirus, checking in on COVID-19 updates is going to be at the front of your mind. I am constantly watching for work updates to communicate to employees and to blog but I had to stop those breaking news alerts from popping up.
Any suggestions for working remotely welcome!!! @circle_food_market has a great selection of food but no crawfish!!!
