Along with these interactive activations, a luau performance will take place and set the tone for a fun island vibe. The Yards merchants will participate by selling drinks and bites at the boardwalk kiosks. Find tickets here.

Love the water and outdoors? Freedom Boat Club is the perfect way to get out on the water without the commitment to maintain a personal boat. Our members are provided with access to a variety of boats and a seamless member concierge service. Learn more below about what a boat club is and the benefits of becoming a member!
What is a boat club?
Boat Clubs are designed for people who want access to a versatile fleet of boats on a regular basis, at an affordable cost of entry. While clubs in general may differ in their membership structure, Freedom Boat Club operates with a 1x entry fee and monthly dues. FBC members have unlimited access to the club fleet, but do not own them and never incur any service or storage fees. Reservations are made through a proprietary online system. Freedom Boat Club provides a hassle-free and maintenance-free boating experience to its members. FBC employs a proven member-to-boat ratio formula to ensure there are always plenty of boats in the fleet to service members. Unlike other club organizations, Freedom Boat Club rotates new boats into the system regularly, while moving them out of inventory after three years of use. Freedom Boat Club has 2,000+ late model boats from coast to coast, with 180+ locations throughout the United States and Canada and now 3 clubs in France. Members who join Freedom Boat Club on a year-round basis enjoy reciprocal access and can boat anywhere Freedom Boat Clubs are located. This is one of the most valued features of membership in Freedom Boat Club.
Who are the typical members in the boat club?
Our members are varied. From first time boaters who want to experience the relaxation that comes with a day on the water to experienced boaters who have owned before and know the hassle and cost of maintaining their own boat(s). Your membership includes unlimited one on one training with our US Coast Guard licensed captains. Our fleet provides entertainment for everyone: families that want to enjoy water sports with loved ones, busy executives who want to chill out for a day or entertain a client, and anyone who enjoys fishing. My husband and I love to entertain, and we have spent many days of pure enjoyment with our family and friends out on the water.
What are the differences between being a member and purchasing a boat to own?
Mainly, two things: time and money. Our members enjoy a truly maintenance-free boating experience; no longer concerned with cleaning, maintenance, repairs, storage, or long lines at the gas dock. Not to mention our concierge service upon your arrival at the dock will have you out on the water in no time. We know that on average a boat club member boats at least twice as much as an average boat owner. As far as cost, the average annual cost of a membership is less than $5000. The average annual cost of maintaining a boat is over $15,000. Boat slip and maintenance fees alone are more expensive than a Freedom Boat Club membership.
Ready to join? We’d love to invite you to visit our website to learn more (FreedomVirginia.com) and schedule a tour. You can also enjoy a complimentary boat ride with family and friends at either of our Northern Virginia locations (Woodbridge or Lake Anna). There’s nothing better than spending a day on the water!

While his favorite things include flowers, Batman, and building cars, local four year old Luca has spent most of his time lately dealing with radiation, needles, and MRIs. The preschooler, diagnosed in April with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DPIG), has been fighting his own superhero battle against a brain cancer that fewer than 1% of children ever survive. To keep him going through radiation, his mom, Catherine Velleco, brought him through the local Chick-fil-A for waffle fries. “Chick-fil-A was the only thing that brought a smile to Luca’s face following his daily sedation for radiation.” She wrote on a comment card in May.
When Justin Smith, the owner/operator of the Fair Lakes location found out about the family’s situation, he wanted to make Luca smile even more, and tasked his event coordinator with designing a night around Luca. Charity Casey, the marketing and event coordinator, took on the project with gusto, and now CFA Fair Lakes is excited to invite the community to join them for Luca’s Super Hero Night on July 24th from 5-8pm. Superhero costumes are encouraged, and there will also be a face painter, character meet and greet with “real” superheroes, and a craft for children. There will be a special superhero mobile, as well, and the superhero cow will be in attendance.
While normal spirit night events donate 10% of sales from those who identify as attending for the cause, on this night, 25% of all sales from everyone who purchases food from 5-8pm will go to research for DPIG patients, so that hopefully in the future, Luca’s superpower can be finding a cure for other children, even if it’s not in time for him. The goal is to raise $4000 for research- $1000 for each of Luca’s four years of age.

About The Yards:
The Yards is DC’s most exciting waterfront neighborhood for living, dining, shopping and relaxing.
The Yards gets its name and rich history from the neighboring Washington Navy Yard. In the early 19th century, the area now known as The Yards was home to a bustling wharf, sugar refinery and brewery. Up until World War II, The Yards was an important part of the industrial capacity of the Navy Yard, which has since been reduced in overall size. Now, that proud nautical and industrial heritage has found new life within The Yards neighborhood!
About Ice Cream Jubilee:
Ice Cream Jubilee serves super premium ice cream made from local South Mountain Creamery’s all-natural 18% butterfat grass-fed cream. Each flavor is made by hand in small batches in northeast Washington, DC, inspired by international flavors, boozy cocktails, and childhood treats. Ice Cream Jubilee also serves several non-dairy vegan flavors.
Ice Cream Jubilee has four locations in the Washington, DC area:
Ice Cream Jubilee proudly represents Washington, D.C. on multiple “Best Ice Cream in America” lists, including Food & Wine magazine, Thrillist, Tastemade, and TimeOut magazine. Ice Cream Jubilee’s flavors and the story of founder Victoria Lai has also been featured by NBC Nightly News, Travel + Leisure magazine, Forbes, FoodNetwork.com, and More magazine. Ice Cream Jubilee was named “Best Ice Cream Shop in DC” four years in a row, and recently named one of America’s Best Ice Cream Shops by Thrillist.com in May 2018.
