WARNING – SPOILERS!!!
Earlier this month I was able to experience what it would have been like on the maiden voyage of the Titanic, including the tragic and deadly last night aboard the ship.
Located on International Drive in Orlando, you will find Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit. This is the 2ndlargest Titanic exhibit, with the first being located in Las Vegas (owned by the same company, Premier Exhibitions). This exhibit has both replicated artifacts as well as real artifacts that have been obtained from the Titanic itself. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the exhibit puts on a dinner show like I have never experienced, “The 1st Class Gala Dinner.” Most dinner shows have a stage and an entire act that takes place on that stage; this dinner show does not.
The show begins the moment you walk in the door of the lobby. You will be given a Titanic “ticket” which has information regarding an actual passenger that you have now become (don’t Google your person, keep reading and you’ll find out why). Your party’s photo will be taken and then you get to enjoy and take part in the Captain’s Cocktail party. During this time, there are some light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar for beverages, such as the Iceberg cocktail – super pretty and pretty yummy too!
Once all the parties have been checked in, the “show” will begin. Famous passengers (well, ones you have probably heard of before) from the Titanic will make their way through the lobby, greeting you and speaking with you, all while never breaking character. The toast to the voyage will be made and then you will be taken through a portion of the exhibit to experience and feel what it was like to be a passenger boarding the ship. Some time is offered to explore a bit, more photos will be taken of your party, and then everyone will sit down to their dinner.
Much of the “show” is during dinner, and again, there is no stage. You will have those previously mentioned passengers performing and having conversations all around the room, including possibly joining your table and conversing with you. The dinner takes place that last night of the Titanic’s voyage.
A cash bar is available during the dinner, should you want more alcoholic beverages or soft drinks. The meal starts with dinner rolls, salad, and French onion soup. The main course will be a nice combination of steak and chicken, plus veggies and a twice baked potato (if you can’t have pork like me, they were able to give me mashed potatoes). For dessert, there was a chocolate mousse with brownie (peanut-free will not include the brownie), plus coffee. The meal will end with a champagne (or sparkling cider for those under 21) toast and then it’s back to reliving that last night aboard the ship.
Be prepared to feel a bit emotional as you finish your evening the way all those passengers did that grave night in April 1912. I won’t spoil how exactly the show finishes, but I will say that the performance by the “passengers” was great. They did a wonderful job making you feel like you were really there and reliving those last moments. At the very end, you will be able to find out if your passenger survived or perished, as well as the fate of those “passengers” that joined you that evening. At this point, you’ll have just a little bit of the exhibit left, which includes one of my favorite parts – the iceberg room (that’s all I’ll say, it’s really “cool” though!). You’ll also have the opportunity to TOUCH a piece of the actual ship that was recovered. In true Orlando fashion, a gift shop is located at the end of the exhibit, and I’ll be honest – I wanted everything! If you are big Titanic fan, there are some really cool items for sale. You will also be able to view all of your party’s photos at this time, and purchase if you are interested. Below are some of my favorites of my party that evening:
I recommend visiting the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit, as well as doing the dinner show. I would recommend doing them at separate times, as the dinner show lets you look around, but not in the same capacity or timeframe that you might be hoping – especially if you like to read and look at everything they have. I love how the exhibit really does a great job at making you feel like you are aboard the real Titanic, all the way down to the music/soundbites in the different rooms. The show just gives it that something “extra” to make you feel immersed in the moment. I definitely plan to go back to the exhibit very soon so that I can take more time and really learn more. PlusI want to bring some others with me, so that they can also experience this one-of-a-kind exhibit.
THINGS TO KNOW
You may not take photos within the exhibit, including during the dinner. Photos are taken by their photographers in specific areas of the exhibit in order to preserve the artifacts.

As many of you readers know, John and I took a one-week vacation in California. Most of that time, we were staying on Disney property, enjoying a Disneyland vacation. During our time at Disneyland, we took one of their tours, “Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps.” This tour was recommended to me, and I am so glad it was!
Living near Walt Disney World, here in Orlando, I have taken a few of their tours over the years, but I decided I wanted to take this tour since it was my first time at Disneyland and it was the one park Walt Disney himself actually walked in and experienced.
Obviously, I want to preserve the “magic” of the tour for everyone, so I won’t go into too much detail – which is SO hard for me! I will however, try to give you a little bit of information so that you can decide if this tour is right for you.
We did the 9:30am tour; perfect because it wasn’t too hot yet. We checked-in next to City Hall, at the Tour Gardens Kiosk. During check-in, we got to place our lunch order (included with the tour), received our name badges, and then waited for the rest of the group to arrive. Once everyone had their headsets on, we began out 3+ hour tour. Our guide was Amy, and she was so full of Disney love and energy!
We learned about Walt’s dreams coming to life, hidden tributes he placed around the park, his love for his wife, Lillian, and his grandchildren, significance behind many of the classic rides we see in the park today, and so much more.
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to do this tour, was to see Walt’s apartment, which I had learned about on a WDW tour years ago. Seeing his apartment made me much more emotional than I ever would have thought. Hearing the stories from our apartment tour guides had me choking up too. At one point, I was looking out the window of Walt’s apartment and saw the parade pass by with Mickey, Minnie, and some other characters, tears welled up in my eyes, feeling what I could only imagine was 1% of what Walt felt when he finally saw his dream come true.
Cameras and phones are not allowed during this part of the tour, until the very end, when the guide can take a photo of you in the apartment. This was such an exciting thing for me – I made sure to get one with just me, as well as one with John.
We then ate our lunch, which was from Jolly Holiday Bakery. I highly recommend the Matterhorn Macaroon for dessert– so yummy!
Our tour ended here, but not after receiving our special pin for taking the tour – how awesome is this pin?
So, if you are wondering if you should take this tour, my answer is YES.
For more information, including pricing, be sure to contact the Disneyland reservations number.
Are you ever looking for something new and fun to do for a date night? I know I am! To be honest, sometimes I just want to stay in and not go anywhere, but food delivery and binge-watching TV can get old. I was looking for something new and fun John and I could do at home; something I didn’t have to take effort in planning myself.
I decided to try a Date Night In subscription box from Night In Boxes. If you’ve never heard of Night In Boxes, they offer boxes for date night, date night with faith, and kids night in boxes too! The July box was my very first Date Night In box, and I was very excited to see what our date night was going to be!
IN THE BOX
When I opened the box, I found that there was a pamphlet and all sorts of goodies. Within the pamphlet, there is an optional dinner + drinks menu provided (recipes included!). There is even a Spotify link which takes you to a music playlist made specifically for the Date Night In box! I was pretty impressed at how much thought was put into the box.
JULY’S BOX | MINUTE TO WIN IT
July’s box was a game night called “Minute to Win It.” The tasks were super silly, and I could tell lots of laughs and fun would be had.
OUR DATE NIGHT
I had every intention of sharing the date night with John, but my best friend from Virginia came to town, and I knew this Minute to Win It game would be right up her alley. John was a good sport and took our photos and video for us. Some of the tasks included were unraveling streamer with our non-dominant hands, making an “elevator” out of straws & string to bring jelly beans to our mouths, putting stockings on our heads and trying to knock down cups with the ball inside, plus much more!
If you were able to catch my Instagram story, it was a great time, full of laughs, and even a surprise cameo by my dog as he attacked the streamers! You can still view our fun in the highlights of my IG bio (@orlandowives) under "Date Night In"...pictured below:
I can’t wait to see what next month’s Date Night In box will be!

I grew up seeing movies just about every weekend. It didn’t matter what movie, my dad took me, so I saw it. My first job in high school was at a movie theater, partially because I really wanted to see movies for free – I soon learned that this perk would be used more by my family than by me. In college I still saw a decent number of movies, but I was living near DC, so it was pretty expensive, so it wasn’t as often as I had in the past. Once moving back to Virginia Beach, I went back to seeing movies just about every weekend. After moving to Orlando, that changed pretty quickly. Movie ticket prices continued to climb, and they were much more expensive here than back home. After a few years, I was lucky if I saw one movie a month in the theater. We decided it financially made more sense to wait for the movie to either go on iTunes to purchase (which would be cheaper than two people seeing the movie in the theater), wait for it to appear on Netflix, or wait for it to arrive at Redbox. I was missing seeing movies in the theater, but it just didn’t make financial sense anymore.
MOVIE THEATER MEMBERSHIPS
Then came Moviepass. I was intrigued and followed along here and there to see if people found it to be worth it, but it just still didn’t seem like it made financial sense, considering I barely went to movies at the theater anymore. The theater we were going to, when we did see movies, started offering their own plan to rival Moviepass. However, the plan was much worse and actually would have cost us more money than just buying the matinee ticket we usually bought (we usually opted for standard).
AMC STUBS A-LIST...TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?
So I was pretty set that I would just keep seeing movies on the rare occasion, and never purchase one of these movie plans. Then I heard about the new AMC Stubs A-List membership. Yes, it is twice the price of Moviepass ($19.99/mo + tax), and no you don’t get to see a movie every 24 hours, BUT I do get to see 3 movies a week (week starting Friday morning), there are NO blackouts, I can see any movie I want – IMAX, Dolby Theater, 3D, etc. without an extra fee. I can book my seats online ahead of time without an extra fee. I get points for paying my membership and points for concessions, like all other Stubs members, plus the drink/popcorn upgrades. I was intrigued to say the least.
I decided to give this plan a shot, because now I could finally go see a movie every weekend (or more) if I wanted to, I could see 3D and IMAX, instead of settling for standard, and 2-3 movies at the price I was already paying for standard, would pay for the membership. My first week was this week and being on Summer Break, I decided to see all 3 movies. It was amazing. I ordered my tickets and picked my seats on the app the day before (with no fees!), showed up at the theater, got my upgraded drink and popcorn, and I was good to go. I also saw a movie in the Dolby Cinema for the first time – really cool.
IS IT WORTH IT?
Do I think this plan is worth it? Definitely. If you like seeing movies in 3D, IMAX, or the Dolby Cinema, it’s honestly a no-brainer. Even if you see 4 standard movies in a month (one a week- not on Tuesday), it would completely pay for itself. My matinee ticket in the Dolby Cinema would have been about $15 on its own, so think about that for a minute. I paid $10 to see a standard movie at the same theater the week before with a girlfriend. So yes, I highly recommend the AMC Stubs A-List membership.
OK...WHAT'S THE CATCH?
What’s the catch? You are required to stay on the plan for 3 months without cancelling. After that, if you don’t like it, you can cancel. Otherwise, the membership is for 1 year; billed monthly. You cannot transfer your tickets to anyone; you will show your ID when they scan your ticket. Other than that, I haven’t noticed anything else worth mentioning. I’m honestly super excited to see a bunch of movies now! I’m already planning ahead to all the movies I was really wanting to see, and actually will now see them on the big screen! You can learn more about the AMC Stubs A-List membership here!

Our July charity spotlight is Cats in Knead. Cats in Knead is a non-profit group of volunteers who are responsible for maintaining stray, feral and homeless cat colonies in Orange County, FL. Their volunteers are very dedicated and passionate about the care and well-being of over 350 cats in our community.
To assist in reducing the stray, homeless and feral cat population in the community through trap-neuter-return (“TNR”) and in keeping the cats healthy. Their caregivers provide food, water, TNR, medical care to sick or injured cats and shelter whenever possible. They strive to reduce intake at our local shelters by decreasing the number of cats born on the streets through TNR.
They educate the public, promote the TNR strategy and the importance of spaying and neutering owned pets to reduce the population within various communities by attending HOA meetings. As a non-profit organization they look to the generosity of others via cash and food donations. They also hold several fundraising events throughout the year, such as yard sales and participating in community events, like Pioneer Days, Earth Day and events at The City of Edgewood.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Cats in Knead’s resources are often stretched thin as the cost to TNR feral cat colonies and provide follow-up care and colony support continues to rise. 100% of the donations they receive are used to support these colonies. With your support they can continue to maintain healthy colonies and provide some much-needed financial relief to their caretakers. It is up to each of us to ensure that feral and stray cats in Orange County and beyond are given the chance to survive and thrive.
Cats in Knead accepts monetary donations via PayPal. Should you wish to make a donation, please visit their Paypal donation page here.
At Our Upcoming GNO
We will be collecting donated items at our July 19th Girls Night Out Meet up + Networking Social at Wine 4 Oysters (we do not collect monetary donations at our events.) A representative will be present to answer any questions that you may have about Cats in Knead and how you can get involved!
ITEMS CURRENTLY NEEDED:
I am a true foodie. These days, they say everyone is a self-proclaimed foodie, photographer, critic, but I have literally been obsessed with food and taking pictures of food for most of my life. I was cooking up my own recipes, without measurements, since as long as I can remember. My specialty before I was 9 years old was sautéed mushrooms and bananas foster (sans alcohol of course). My mom used to arrange for me to go to houses of stay-at-home mothers that were amazing cooks, just so that I could cook with them and learn new recipes. If there was a cooking class offered at school, I would take it. Some of my best memories are cooking with my grandmother or at these women’s homes. I was never one for recipes, which is partially why I am not a fan of baking (unless I am super stressed or angry.) Further, I was always the child/teen ordering the crazy adult meals when friends and others my age were ordering usual kid foods – chicken nuggets, burgers, fries, you know what I’m talking about. I literally had no interest in foods like this, and still don’t. My dad loves to tell the story of when I was around the age of 4-5 and would ask the server, “what is the shrimp of the day.” Our local country club literally put shrimp cocktail on the menu because I ordered it so much, then soon took it off since I was probably the only child ordering it. My favorite foods growing up: Indian, sushi, hibachi, and Thai. Things kids these days eat, but definitely didn’t during my childhood.
Like I said earlier, I always loved to take pictures of my food, which everyone always thought was so strange; something thanks to Instagram and Yelp, is now very popular. I loved to guess what things were made with, and always took great pleasure in being correct. One of my dreams growing up was to be a chef or a food critic for a magazine, so that I could continue with my passion for food. Obviously, I never became a chef, and my passion for actually cooking has sort of fell by the wayside, but my love for good/interesting/different food is still alive and strong.
Now that you are caught up…
Knowing all of the above, John decided to make our anniversary celebration at Disneyland even more magical and full of pixie-dust, by booking us a dinner at the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel’s Napa Rose restaurant…at the Chef’s Table! I’ve always wanted to have a Chef’s Table experience and this one was unlike most I had ever heard of.
There are 3 areas of 4 seats set up around the open kitchen area in Napa Rose. John and I sat at the first area, closest to where everything was really “happening.”
We worked with Francisco, one of the Sous Chefs, letting him know our allergies/food restrictions, so that he and the Chef de Cuisine could help come up with our special dinner for the evening. As I’m sure you’ve guessed (or read on my Instagram), I have food restrictions, so we were a little worried I may have stumped them, but guess what? I didn’t! From our table, we had the best view of all the different chefs. You had the one making salad, the one making the scallops and other side dishes, the one making the cheeseboards, etc. It all looked so amazing and we couldn’t wait to see what our meals were going to be!
Five amazing courses…and paired perfectly with wine!
We elected to have wines paired for us during our meal. This is an additional fee, but for the amount of wonderful wines you get, it was well worth it. The Chef’s Table is a 5-course meal and you need to come hungry, because it’s a lot of food! They also try to prepare two completely different meals per person, so that you can sample from each other if you’d like. Disclaimer: all meals are different and change, so my meal described below may not be the same you will ever see, should you do the Chef’s Table at Napa Rose. The meals described below were what I received, not John.
Fresh made breads and lavash – amazing. Along with a tasty amuse-bouche.
Salmon with a strawberry dust, summer corn relish, elote fritters, and watercress – I’m VERY particular about salmon, and this was DIVINE. Cooked just the way I like it and the strawberry dust, it really brought it to another dimension.
Farmer’s Market tomato salad with roasted octopus and lemon crème. -- Oh. My. Goodness. This was probably the best octopus I had ever had. Everything about this dish was literally amazing and probably my favorite dish of the night. I didn’t want it to end.
Roasted chicken with English peas, Parisian gnocchi, and morel mushrooms. – This dish was good, although I’m not huge on chicken dishes. Unfortunately, many of the options had pork, which I do not eat.
Lemon cucumber and oh so good!
Prime New York steak cooked a perfect medium-rare, with bone marrow fritter, onion fondue and mustard crème. – At this point I was dying I was so full, but the food was so good I forced myself to eat it all. I couldn’t imagine heating this up in a microwave- nope, I was eating it.
I honestly cannot recall what my dessert was, but it was a custard or cream that was a little tart, and super wonderful. It was literally screaming “MICHELLE” at how perfect it was for me.
As we were celebrating our anniversary, the server also brought out some freshly made macarons, which were probably the best I’d ever had.
My Chef’s Table experience was one I will never forget, and I hope to experience again. This meal is now up there as one of the best meals I’ve ever had, coming close to my number 1, which is Remy on the Disney Fantasy. The quality of the food, the excitement of having something specifically prepared for you, and being able to interact with the chefs, was just such an amazing experience.
The cost is very reasonable at $100 per person, and an additional $55 per person for the wine pairing. You would never get something this lavish at WDW for these prices and I believe we paid more at Remy.
Eating at Napa Rose outside of the Chef’s Table
We ate at Napa Rose on our last evening in town, this time at a restaurant table. The views are gorgeous, the servers are wonderful, and the quality and food was just as great as at the Chef’s Table. It was a different experience, but still a great one, if you want to do something more intimate. We did their 4-course meal, which costs the same as the Chef’s Table, but allowed us to try so many other things, rather than just one dish. We also split the scallop appetizer, because after staring at them from the Chef’s Table all night, we needed to taste them – sure enough, amazing!
I highly recommend Napa Rose, whether it’s for cocktails, dinner, or the Chef’s Table. I can’t wait to return!
Stay tuned for more posts regarding my trip to California!

Arbonne – Michelle Cypher
Facebook: Arbonne Independent Consultant Michelle McAllister Cypher
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Michelle was unable to join us at our GNO, but her husband Ken filled in and did a wonderful job showcasing Arbonne’s amazing makeup and their 30 days to healthy living program! He shared how to live healthy, inside and out with their products. For 38 years, Arbonne has been providing pure, safe, and beneficial products. Something that I learned from Ken, was that their makeup follows the highest standards as set forth by the EU, which is even more strict than our US standards for quality; I found this to be a great fact! Plus, Ken did the 30 days to heath living program and continues to use the program, so he was so full of great facts and personal testimony!
Be sure to check out Michelle’s website and Facebook page, listed above!
