Just down the road from Walt Disney World you will find a fun dinner experience that is from out of this century!
If you are local, or maybe have been visiting just for the theme parks, you may have wondered about that castle off 192 in Kissimmee. That castle is home to a fun dinner show experience like you may have never experienced. You will be transported back to the medieval times and will be greeted by a Queen, Knights, and beautiful horses. The show includes dinner and non-alcoholic drinks (lemonade or Pepsi) as well as coffee with dessert. Now remember, this is the medieval times, so you won’t find any silverware to eat your food – you heard right, you’ll be eating with your hands! Delicious tomato soup, garlic bread, half a chicken, corn on the cob, and potato; plus, a pastry for dessert (ours was lemon pound cake).
If you had been to the show in the past, it recently changed to add the Queen. I loved the spin on the show and the empowerment it brought to women.
What is really fun about this show over some other dinner shows, is the fact that you have Knight to cheer for, so it almost feels like you are at a sporting event. I bought one of the flags for my Knight (yellow and red) and cheered him on anytime he was completing.
I took my sister with me to the show and we had a great time – I definitely recommend for something different to do in Orlando.
Disclaimer: I was provided free admission in exchange for my review. As always, all thoughts and comments are my own.
This month is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so we have decided to partner again with The Magic Yarn Project of South Florida for our September Girls Night Out Networking Social.
About The Magic Yarn Project
Two moms started a project to make a few dozen princess yarn wigs for young girls battling cancer. Chemotherapy treatments leave young scalps too sensitive for traditional wigs, but yarn-wigs are comfy, soft, and warm. Magic yarn wigs are inspired by beloved Disney characters, and invite children back to the world of play and daydreaming. They are a beacon of fun, laughter, and play during a scary time. The demand for magic wigs grows daily!
The Magic Yarn Project of SF was our charity spotlight in April and you can learn more about all the amazing things they do for children with cancer, here!
Childhood Cancer Facts
Every 3 minutes another family is given the news that their child has cancer.
(from American Childhood Cancer Organization)
I implore you to research further and learn more about the heartbreaking statistics of Childhood Cancer and see how you can get involved! In the meantime, we will be collecting donated items at our Girls Night Out Networking Social at Sugar Factory Orlando on September 20th to assist with The Magic Yarn Project’s mission of providing fun and comfortable wigs for kids going through the horrors of cancer.

If you’ve been following Orlando Housewives since our launch in January, you probably have a good idea of what “Orlando Housewives in the City” is all about; but for all of our newbies and maybe even those not so new, I hope that this post gives a better understanding of what Orlando HITC is all about.
Housewives in the City (housewivesinthecity.com) is a National Organization that got its start in Northern Virginia (think DC area). Our founder, Andrea Khoury, was a sorority sister of mine at George Mason University, and I had been following all of the fun events and opportunities that she had been bringing to the NOVA area. Although I wanted to bring Orlando HITC to the Central Florida sooner, the time was just not right for me personally. I continued to watch as Housewives in the City grew all over the USA, in cities both near and far. Finally, I decided it was time we had a HITC here in Central Florida!
So, what is Housewives in the City?
It’s an organization that offers networking, friendships, a way to learn about local businesses, a support network, and so much more! In all of our cities, we have a monthly Girls Night Out networking social that are free and open to all women in our city. There is no membership nor is there a requirement to be a housewife, wife, mom, or entrepreneur. So if you live in Central Florida, come join us and meet some other local ladies! We usually have some vendors, happy hour specials, raffles, and swag bags at all our events – so they are definitely not to be missed!
Is it just networking socials?
No! We are more than that. We of course have this blog, but here in Orlando we also periodically run specials, promotions, and giveaways on our social media pages. We also keep you up-to-date on shows, events, restaurants, and more! Orlando Housewives is on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. If you are looking for an extra place to network, join our private Facebook group, where you can post about your business and make connections!
But what do you get out of this?
I get this question A LOT at our Girls Night Out events. Like most in Orlando, I am a transplant, originally from VA. I found it was hard to meet other women in the area unless it was through work or networking events specific to my line of work. I wanted a way to meet women of all ages and backgrounds, while also trying new places and helping support local businesses. I have to say, since launching in January, this has been one of the best ventures I have taken part in. I have learned about so many new and fun things to do in Central Florida and I’ve also met so many wonderful ladies through our GNOs! I’ve learned about many of our local grass-root charities and have been able to bring them to your attention via our blog and GNOs. Plus, this has been a great way to utilize my passion for planning!
Now you know!
So now that you know more about Orlando Housewives, I hope that you will join us for our upcoming events, whether as an attendee, a vendor, or who knows - maybe a venue! Oh, and be sure to say hello to me at our GNOs, I LOVE hearing from all of you lovely ladies!
Shop, sample and share the fun at Orlando’s favorite event for women. Discover hundreds of boutiques filled with the latest fashions, trendy jewelry, gourmet treats, health and beauty, and so much more. Enjoy fashion shows, top chefs, and celebrity guests. Bring your mom, sister, and best friend and spend the day doing everything you love! Learn more about which businesses will be at the show, here!
