Today, I want to tell you about some generous hearts.
Last fall, my good friend, Jan Zink asked me to join her fun women's bowling league, called Alley-Oops,. There are a total of 36 fun, smart, creative and talented women in this league. We would meet once a month at Diamond Strike Bowling Alley to bowl. The nine teams are comprised of 4 players each. Each team created a creative and fun team name. Many teams even had t-shirts made. And a great time was always had, despite my challenged bowling skills.
Unfortunately, our season was cut short, due to COVID-19, when we all sheltered in place, to stay safe.
Two weeks of sheltering in place, turned into the remaining months of our bowling season.
At the end of the season, prize money is always distributed to the winners. My friend, Jan Zink, who is the Coordinator of the Alley-Oops Bowling League, had a wonderful idea and she sent the league an email proposing the below, to our league members:
As for the bowling prize money, what I would like to do is donate this $$ to a charity. As many of you know, Angel Houston, our sweet friend from the Odd Balls Team recently started as Director of Pompano Beach Housewives in the City. It is all about supporting women in our community. Each month she spotlighted a non-profit organization and did a charity drive at these very fulfilling events. However, due to the Pandemic, so much has changed.
I would like to donate this $$ to Women in Distress of Broward County; with the corona-virus, domestic violence and abuse has escalated.
My heart was so happy to hear our bowling league has $400 to donate to Women in Distress of Broward County! Due to the stay at home order, a number of women and children needing services, due to domestic violence and abuse, has increased. This money will definitely make a huge difference to many in need.
I'd love to send a shout out to all the fun teams in the Alley-Oops Bowling League, plus all the league substitutes that played:
18th Street Babes, The Odd Balls, Pin Pals, Lickety Split, Pin Ups, Turkey Chasers, The 300 Club, Britney Spares, Team #9.
I am so grateful to all these women, not just for allowing me to play or attending my Pompano Housewives events. But because of their interest to help the community we live in. Together, we can help make the world go around.
Hi there! I am Angel and live a happy life in Pompano Beach with my wonderful husband, Scott, and our two dogs, Brady and Buddy.
I love to travel, the color blue, Netflix binges, Tito’s and gluten-free chocolate raspberry cake. I also have a serious obsession with pictures!
In addition to Housewives in the City, I am a real estate and portrait photographer. I basically make people and things look pretty.
Meeting new friends, making a difference for non-profits and helping businesses grow are my passions. And that is what we get to do at our monthly girls’ nights out!
I can’t wait to meet you. All women are welcome, and we are going to have a ton of fun!
