Waking up on a saturday morning to gameday on espn makes me one happy girl. Everyone has something they love or a time of year they enjoy for a reason and football and fall are mine! The thought of tailgating at a football game in cooler weather wearing a comfy sweater and boots make me happy. The thought of cooking comfort food for a day on the couch watching football games brings the anticipation of fall. What is something you look forward to?
So last week I had the opportunity to have a wellness profile done. If you have never done one of these, it’s a great way to really understand your body and health. It starts with a short questionnaire and then a body index including clamping. It really opens your eyes to your body areas. After that comes the fun part (or not so fun part)! Next, you get on a treadmill and your incline and speed increases every 3 minutes. The instructor wants you to get to a certain heart rate before stopping. I was on the treadmill for a total of about 20 minutes. After that you get to perform pushups, crunches, and a flexibility test. Lastly, you take a 44 question test involving your lifestyle. At the end, you receive your results. This is the fun part! Each year you do this, your results are compared and hopefully improved. The wellness profile was very eye opening to me and an amazing experience that I’m so glad I participated in. I can’t wait to see what my results involve next year!
With the start of the school year approaching or maybe even beginning already for your children, mom stress kicks in! What do I need to do before school starts? What will I forget to do? Will my son be excited to start school? What if he doesn’t like his teacher or class? The list goes on and on.
After a fun summer away from school including camps and vacations, I try to get my son excited for the start of a new year. This new year signifies him becoming another year older and lots of new memories to be made. I explain that he will meet new people, learn new things and have new experiences. I try to shift his scared emotions to excitement!
Are there any before school traditions you share with your children or any secrets you have to help with their first day of school jitters?
Raleigh Housewives is back and I'm so excited to meet you all! 💜
Hello! I'm Carli, a girl originally from Ohio, who could not be more proud to call Raleigh home the last 12+ years. By day, I work at SAS Institute but when I'm not working, I'm a mom to an amazing boy and 2 dogs. I'm a graduate of Endicott College (Beverly, MA) where I majored in hospitality/event planning and minored in English.
In my free time, I love to be active! You can find me running, biking, hiking, yoga, dancing or playing sports such as tennis, golf, volleyball or basketball. I call myself a 'tomgirl' since I'm an avid sports fan and can hang with most males in sports conversations yet I love shopping and a spa day! I love to travel, shop, crafty projects, as well as go to sports games, concerts, and parks.
I was the original Housewife of Raleigh years ago and am excited to be back in this role! I've known the founder of Housewives in the City, Andrea Khoury, since middle school and could not be more proud of her accomplishments. I'll be hosting monthly girls nights out, sharing fashion, makeup, fitness, recipe, travel, and mom tricks as well as events in the area.
What would be your dream profession?
My dream profession would be to own a womens clothing boutique. Fashion is my passion in life and I love helping others dress to their fullest potential. My other dream would be to open an animal rescue!
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
I live my life by organization and planning. I am always looking to the future to fulfill my time in the most efficient way. As a mother with a full-time career, prioritizing comes natural to me.
What are some of your favorite things to do in the Raleigh area?
I love Raleigh because there is always something to do! Not only are the beaches and mountains a short drive away, but the city also has so much to offer. Raleigh has a variety of parks, lakes, music venues, sports teams, universities, food halls, shopping malls, restaurants, bars, local shops, flea markets, farmers markets, museums, movie theaters....the list is never ending!
What are 3 things people may not know about you?
1 - I'm a type 1 diabetic who was diagnosed at age 13. I'm always striving to live a healthy lifestyle.
2 - I played college tennis and taught tennis professionally. I also played 3 sports in high school. Athletics are near and dear to my heart!
3 - I'm a vegetarian. I gave up eating meat and love trying new foods daily!
