With warmer weather and COVID19, many families are getting outside more than ever. Below are 3 easy tips for enjoying the outdoors safely!
1. Planning – most common emergencies and injuries are weather-related. Always check the weather forecast and consider the 3 D’s (difficulty, duration, and distance) to plan and prepare accordingly.
2. Preparation – read up on trail etiquette, study a map, and research information on your specific activity. Essential items for outdoor adventure are: navigation (map, GPS, or compass), sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat), water, extra food, a first aid kit, flashlight, and a lightweight jacket.
3. Prevention – common sense, planning, and preparation can prevent many outdoor injuries including dehydration, sunburn, knee and ankle sprains, insect bites/stings, and snake/animal bites.

Hello! I'm Carli, a girl originally from Ohio, who could not be more proud to call Raleigh home the last 12+ years. By day, I work at SAS Institute but when I'm not working, I'm a mom to an amazing boy and 2 dogs. In my free time, I love to stay active working out, playing sports, traveling, crafting, attending a sports game/concert, or shopping!
