So I am embarrassed to say this but I have not worked out for many months and am now just getting back into it. I used to be a ‘crazy’ workout person at what I think was an unhealthy level. Since getting back to the gym and my workout schedule, I feel so much more at ease. With everyone’s crazy schedules, it’s okay if you don’t get to workout every single day. Any workout is better than no workout has been my motto whether it’s getting on the elliptical, taking your dog for a walk, hiking a cool park in Raleigh, weight training at home, a fun Zumba class, a releasing Yoga class, or a bike ride with your family. I’ve learned there are so many different fun ways to workout.
Stretching is so important and I can say I don’t do it enough! One of my New Year’s resolutions was to focus more on my mind, body, and spirit. There are so many different stretches for each part of the body that I’d love to explore. A lot of people focus on the area of their body where they have pain while others focus on stretches for flexibility. I’ve included some popular back and hip stretches above to get started!
Now that it is 2020, what are your New Year resolutions? I try to set realistic resolutions in all aspects of my life. I have the ‘typical’ resolutions to workout more and eat healthier but also like to look deeper and set resolutions such as not being afraid to take chances and to not judge others or myself. I think it’s important to look at this year as a new start or continuation of a great past year. I’ve included some resolution ideas below for 2020!
I’ve been debating on writing about this topic but with 2019 wrapping up and 2020 here, I feel like it’s time to celebrate new beginnings and be optimistic about the future. 2019 was a year of my lowest lows and my highest highs. It was a year full of fear, depression, doubts, hope, and love. I haven’t posted too much about my personal life but I know there are other women who may have had a similar year or situation so this is for you. In your darkest times when you cannot see the light, know there is a better life possible. I discovered so much about myself and learned it’s okay to dream big and step away from the ‘norm’. It’s okay to step outside the box, be fearful of the unknowns, and follow your heart. Don’t be afraid to love again! I’m not in any position to give any type of career or love advice but I can say, follow your heart! I was asked earlier this year ‘what courage means to me’ and it really hit me when I said not having regrets and following your dreams to achieve your goals. Whether you have been in an unhealthy relationship, not satisfied with your career, or just ready for a change; don’t be afraid to go for it! It may be scary at first but things get better with time. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or have a support system to lean on. Start a new hobby or join a club where you can speak with others who may be in similar situations. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and joined leagues, started new hobbies, and began therapy. I can say I would not be where I am today without my friends, family, and faith. They have been with me every step of the way and for that I am thankful. Please know that I am here for every one of you if you ever need a friend to talk to! Make 2020 YOUR year and don’t be afraid to dream big. You got this girl!
