I have small children so I don't get out to brunch very often (I often feel quite lucky to eat semi warm pizza standing up), but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Sedona Taphouse.
My husband went straight for the Southwest Steak Omelette, but I'm a simple girl and can't turn away bready heaven. And yes, that is Nutella smothering my French toast....to.die.for. There really is something for everyone on their menu- from truffle fries to crab cake sliders to omelettes. They also offer a lot of gluten free and vegan options, which I can appreciate as one who has done an elimination diet in the past and realized how hard it can be to dine out with restrictions. Want to meet your girlfriends for a fun brunch? They have a super fun Blood Mary bar as well as over 200 craft beers ( I almost had to leave my husband there).
The restaurant itself is adorable, with barn wood and lots of industrial flavor. There is an outdoor seating area with a fire pit that just screams fall date nights. The atmosphere is honestly just as important to me as the quality of food and I felt very relaxed here. For Sunday brunch, they even have live jazz music. I must say that I'm not typically a huge live music person- it's often too loud and makes it hard to carry on a conversation and to be honest, I'm a chatty Kathy. However, this was not overpowering and just added to this relaxed, but cool vibe.
If you haven't tried them out, I strongly encourage you to do so-you will not be disappointed.
I have quite the unfortunate set of eyelashes, they truly are horizontal with almost no curl whatsoever. I've curled my eyelashes and tried every mascara known to man with very little success. So when I heard about eyelash lifts, I was pretty excited and wanted to try it out for myself. I went to visit Shannon Williams, who by the way is the most pleasant person to sit and chit chat to for an hour, at Deep Roots Salon. I have seriously NEVER been happier with my eyelashes and I feel like it makes such a difference. Yesterday I had to run out sans makeup, which I never do because I look like a cast member from The Walking Dead, and I kind of felt a little pulled together just because my lashes look so amazing. Since my results were so great, I wanted to share my experience with you all!
What is a lash lift exactly?
It's a low-maintenance, natural lash procedure for eye opening results by curling, lifting, and shaping your eyelashes. **Count me in!!**
How long does the process take?
From start to finish it took about an hour, but it's a very comfortable process. You are able to sit with your eyes closed the entire time and just relax.
How do you take care of them ?
I was told to avoid getting them wet for about 24 hours and after that, resume normal skin care.
How long do the results last?
Between 6-8 weeks. Shannon recommended scheduling your next appointment after about 8 weeks. You guys, an hour every 2 months to have these kind of eyelashes?!?! That is ahmazing.
How much does it cost?
Just a lash lift is $65 and if you add a lash tint it is $80. Seriously, it is worth every single penny especially when you compare that to getting eyelash extensions, which will set you back a cool $200 an appointment.
To schedule your own appointment call Deep Roots Salon at (804)559-4247 AND if you schedule your appointment anytime in November and mention RVA Housewives you get %20 off! I highly recommend checking out some insane before and after pictures at https://www.instagram.com/shannon.deeproots/.
When I got engaged I had no idea the importance of picking a photographer. I mean, it's someone taking a picture- I take pictures with my phone all day long right??? *Insert eye roll at my 22 year old brain*. Thankfully a good friend of mine recommended Shot With A Bow photography and I began my long relationship with the woman who captures all of my family's important moments.
On our wedding day Mary Alice kept me calm and gave me space to choose what I really wanted. Later when I was a brand new mama with two wild boys she didn't bat an eye when they couldn't sit still for longer than 2.5 seconds. After I brought home my baby girl from a lengthy NICU stay and just felt like I was missing all of the motherly moments, she showed up ready to take her newborn pictures so that I could send out her birth announcements and have some sense of normalcy. See, when you are choosing your photographer you are really choosing a lifelong friend who will always do their best to help you remember these amazing times (even when it's really you sweating to death chasing after your twin two year olds).
Call me the most basic girl of all time ,but fall is my absolute favorite time of the year #sorrynotsorry. The weather is PERFECT and there are so many fun family things to do outside, especially here in Richmond. Every year on the top of my family's fall activity list is to visit a pump patch (or 2 or 3), so I wanted to share my favorite ones with you!
Chesterfield Berry Farm
This one is a bit of a hike for West Enders and those right in RIchmond, but I think it's well worth it. There is really something here for everyone. For the younger ones you have super fun barrel train rides, a petting zoo area, a corn sandbox (no clue the real name for this),a kids corn maze, and a hay bale play area complete with swinging ropes and slides. For the older kids there is paintball and a Scary Fun Barn.
Hanover Vegetable Farm
My family has always had the absolute best time here and I have to say I think this is the most relaxing pumpkin patch that we have ever visited, which is important when you have three children in tow. They have so many animals to feed and ohh and ahh over- horses, bunnies, goats. There is a big corn maze for the older crew and a little pallet one for the younger kiddos, a cornhole set up, a giant sand pit, and face painting.
LLoyd Family Farms
We make it a point every year to visit Lloyd Family Farms. They have the biggest pumpkin patch and there is such a great variety in pumpkin types-not just your typical orange. They offer horse rides, face painting, a giant sand pit, a small petting zoo, and they have a ton of food trucks come in every weekend (let's be honest- that's what we parents are really interested in). I love the down home farm feel that they have here and I have always found the employees to be so kind.
No matter which one you choose or if you visit all of them, I hope that you all have a great time enjoying this wonderful season with your families!
Hello and thank you for finding your way here! I am Courtney and I am so excited to relaunch the Housewives In The City and our Girl's Night Outs here in Richmond. I'm a Southside Virginia native who transplanted here and is now I'm a RVA lifer.
I'm a momma of 5 year old twin boys and a 3 year old little girl. My day to day favorite activities include questioning all of my parenting choices, finding new fun things to do, and wondering where on earth I put my diet coke(which I can't live without).
I love meeting new women and find that no matter our backgrounds, we all have so much more in common than we think. I hope to create a wonderful network of women who love to have fun at our events!
Stay tuned as I explore our beautiful city and come enjoy our first event in November!
