With Spring Break next month and Summer Break fast approaching, I start planning places to go that will not only be fun but allow my kids a chance to burn off some of that built up energy. Stepping away from electronics and getting out of the house to enjoy something active is not only healthy for the kids, it can provide some mental sanity for mom and dad, while making bedtime a breeze! I asked my kids the top three places they wanted to go during their school break to run off some energy and here is what they said: “Sky Zone, Lakes Park and their favorite local beach.”
My kids can literally play for hours at Sky Zone; so the all day pass is perfect for our family. From jumping on the trampolines, competing with one another on the ninja warrior course and warp wall and battling it out with a friendly jousting match they wear themselves out to the point that they need some downtime on the silks before jumping some more. If you are looking for a way to get your kids active while having a days worth of fun, this is the place to go!
Planning an active day outside is easy to do if you are going to Lakes Park. Just pack a picnic lunch, wear comfy shoes and bring the swimsuits, towels and sunscreen! We love to walk the trails, look for alligators & butterflies, eat in one of the many shaded spots, work up a sweat on the awesome train playground then cool off at the splash pad. It truly is a fun and exhausting day for the entire family!
The Beach at Bowditch Point
The beach is always a good idea for enjoying fresh air, getting some great exercise and soaking up the beautiful Florida life. We love this Fort Myers beach spot because there is a ton of beach to run around, lots of shallow water to play in plus some walking trails. Personally, I think Bowditch Point Park is a great beach day for those with little kids. Parking is typically easy to snag, the bathrooms are nice, lots of nearby shaded areas to rest in and not crowded compared to most other beach spots. Plus the panoramic bay views are especially beautiful at sunset.
Kids are sure to build up some energy when staying home this school break. These locations are sure to tire out your kid and induce a good night’s sleep. Give them a try!
The world needs who you are and what you have to offer. No one got to where they are by an easy road of constant wins. But every successful woman has a fire inside of her that will not burn out even through winds, rain and darness. And she has a dream that guides her fire. And determination to keep it all going. because of her desire to see this thing through until the very end. Giving up may cross her mind, but she will not let it take up residence in her heart. Cheers to a Successful 2020! Cheers to YOU!
Cheers to the past that made you who you are.
Cheers to the failures that taught you to do it better.
Cheers to the negative voices you learned to not listen to.
Cheers to the bullies you learned to shrug off.
Cheers to the woman you used to be.
Cheers to the tribe who supports your every move.
Cheers to the moments that brought you to the this very place.
Cheers to the fire that won’t let you quit.
CHEERS TO 2020 - that it will be a succesful year of growth!
Cheers to you, a successful woman.
Even though at first they might not didn’t necessarily enjoy ballet, musicals, and plays, children do learn to appreciate the beauty of performing arts. Not just as an audience member but as a performer too!
And you may be surprised to find out that it becomes something they want to do regularly. We are frequent Broadway Palm goers. The kids love the Children's Teatre shows. And you can't go wrong with the buffet that is offerred before the show begins- all family-friendly foods! So if you haven't exposed your lids to the performing arts yet, give it a try.
Still not conviced, here are 3 reasons why you should expose children to theatre:
1. It Will Make Your Child “unplug” From Technology
Phones must be turned off in a theatre. They will focus their attention on the skill of live acting versus YouTube videos of kids playing. Wouldn’t you rather have your child obsessed with Broadway instead of candy crush?
2. It's Something All Ages Can Enjoy Together
It's truly a family experience....everyone can enjoy it! Got a five-year-old and a sixteen-year-old? No problem! My five year old daughter laughs with me, cries at sad moments and anticipates the evend. And believe me, my Minecraft obsessed eight year old son enjoys himself completely during any play as much as the sixteen year old girl across in front of us.
3. It Promotes Many Life Skills
Give them a larger sense of imagination-Check!
Expand their Creativity- Check!
Literacy Awareness- Check!
Watching perfomring arts will release a form of imagination that is not tapped into via digital watching. And participating in theater will give your child more co-operational skills, discipline, and even improved self confidence as well as public speaking. All of these skills are useful with any occupation, no matter if they go into the arts or STEM career direction.

Today, I attended the Media Preview of the newest business to reside at the Bell Tower in Fort Myers. During this private sneak peek event, I had the opportunity to try out a variety of the menu options, one-on-one interviews with management and staff, a guided tour and free game play in this 40,000 square feet entertainment complex!
Located in the mall space formerly occupied by Saks Fifth Avenue, Dave & Buster’s will officially open April 8.
The menu includes a great selection of chef-crafted food, inventive drinks, hundreds of the newest arcade games and the state-of-the-art D&B Sports Bar filled with dozens of HDTVs.
I am already a fan of their creative cocktail menu...starting with the delicious 'Backwoods Blueberry Lemonade,' which was a combination of Tito's vodka, blueberry puree, house sweet n sour and a sidecar of Firefly Strawberry Moonshine.
