Housewives in the City: Tell us about your business and how you became the successful businesswoman you are today.
Jasmine Butler: I started my business with the intention to help women, families and businesses begin with an end in mind when it comes to their finances. I was motivated to open my own branch when I noticed the disconnect between the financial goals people wanted to achieve, and the lack of a guidance from a trusted partner to build a personalized strategy and guide them every step of the way. My success is attributed to the day-to-day work I do with my clients, who have placed the highest level of trust in me which has allowed us to reach their greatest goals; afforded by financial planning and flexibility.
Housewives in the City: Describe yourself in three words
Jasmine Butler: Joyous, Empathetic, Multi-faceted
Housewives in the City: What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Jasmine Butler: To date, my greatest achievement has been building my own boutique branch tailored to giving financial advice and ongoing guidance. My greatest joy comes from helping my clients achieve their goals; retiring early to focus on their health, getting that vacation home for their family to create memories, spending more time with their kids/grandchildren, juggling saving for education and more. Professionally, I have achieved through the College for Financial Planning, designations as an Accredited Asset Management Specialist and Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant that display my proficiency in holistic planning.
Housewives in the City: What are your professional goals for the next six months?
Jasmine Butler: I believe when people are armed with the right tools, people can make more informed decisions. For the next six months my goal is to reach over 200 individuals through financial education through our sponsored speaking engagements and seminars/webinars. I am also planning to begin my Certified Financial Planner designation towards to the end of 2020.
Housewives in the City: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Jasmine Butler: Business & Estate Planning Attorney
Housewives in the City: How do you maintain a work/life balance?
Jasmine Butler: I believe in work/life integration; work, family, friends, faith, health/wellness are all a constant juggling act. I really look to yoga, laughter and my spirituality to keep my balanced, and I make strides every single year to make my business feel less like "work". I've focused on working with clients that I enjoy on a personal/social level, I'm emotionally vested in their success the same way I would be there to support my family; seeing them reach their goals brings me happiness.
Housewives in the City: What websites do you visit every day?
Jasmine Butler: Barons.com
Housewives in the City: What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in your city?
Jasmine Butler: Riding bikes along Riverwalk, visiting the Wine Shoppe in Carrollwood, taking the ferry to Fort De Soto Park and enjoy a day on the beach and paddle boarding.
Housewives in the City: What is your goal for retirement?
Jasmine Butler: They say when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. So, in retirement I see myself transitioning to working only 2-3 days a week and the rest of my time traveling abroad and doing outreach in the community. I would love to start a program teaching finances to high school students, I am adamant about education, because ignorance costs our youth more.
Housewives in the City: Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
Jasmine Butler: Do your research, know your expected expenditures, returns and estimated timeline. Make sure you can fund your transition into business, it may be years before you're profitable. Find a mentor both in and out of your industry, and constantly be learning!
If you want to ask Jasmine your own questions, join us on January 7th from 5:00-8:00 pm at American Social for the Little Black Dress Girls Night Out sponsored by Jasmine Butler of Edward Jones Investments
