Eyebrows are all the rage right now in the cosmetics world. I remember walking into Ulta one day and seeing tons of different eyebrow kits and feeling overwhelmed. So I decided to avoid them and stick to what I knew. This just so happened to be an $8 waxing at the random nail salon, in which ever shopping center I just so happened to be at when I felt my brows needed to be re-shaped.
You won’t catch me doing that any more though.
A few months ago I met Judy Maness, the Owner of Spa On The Plaza, she invited me watch her perform an eyebrow service on one of her clients. I was very intrigued and knew that once I needed an appointment for my eyebrows I was going to try out her salon.
So this week I made an appointment and brought my over grown and scraggly brows into her spa to let her fix them up!
First let me tell you a little bit about my brows: I have a pretty decent brow in my opinion, it is a good length but it isn’t very full and I have one spot that doesn’t grow which causes my shape to look a little funny. So typically I try to pencil them in and shadow them to give them the fuller look. This doesn’t always work well and sometimes I feel like I look like a clown, which let’s be honest clowns are creepy and that just isn’t a good look on anyone.
So anyways, I lied down on her table, on top of a pillow that felt literally like heaven, and she brought over her giant eyeglass to study my brows. She explained to me what the current popular trend is and told me how we could get my brow to that point.
With a little bit of graphite brow tint we were able to darken some of the blonde hairs within my brow to make them look fuller. She then used a technique called sugaring to remove the hair that was out of place. Once done with that, we checked them over together in order to discuss what to do with my spot that lacked the hair growth needed to make my eyebrow the right shape, and decided on some brown extensions, which let me tell you are the best thing ever! Just a few added hairs and my brows went from “looking good” to #eyebrowsonfleek!
Over all my appointment took 45 minutes versus the 10 I would normally take at the nail salons for my waxing. But I think of this as a good thing because it gave me time to relax and treat myself. Besides, the last time I spent 45 minutes on my eye brows I ended up over plucking while sitting on my couch and had uneven eyebrows for months.
I cannot tell you enough how much I enjoyed having someone take the time to study my brows and make them to where I won’t HAVE to pencil them in anymore. For the price of a pedicure, I will be going back once a month to get my brows touched up at Spa On The Plaza.
