Summer Boredom Busters
Now that we are a couple of weeks into to summer, I'm sure you are starting to hear "I'm bored" from your kiddos. I'll be posting fun, easy, and cheap activities to do at home throughout the summer!
As a Pre-K Teacher, I have learned a few busy, yet productive things to do that will keep your child's brain busy.
First up: Exploring Electronics
Dig through the garage and closet and pull out all of your old electronics or appliances. These items do not have to work. Get the toolbox out and let the kids take whatever you have found apart.
The kids will be entertained for hours
You have just cleaned out a bunch of stuff you needed to get rid of anyway
It's a win-win!
See the picture of children in one of my classes last year! They took apart a VCR and it still had a VHS tape in it. They also took apart a receipt printer. They had no idea what it was! HEHE
Dear "Single Moms",
Please stop ruining Father's Day for all the amazing fathers in the world. Father's Day is Sunday and I am dreading seeing my media feeds flooded with memes about "single moms doing double duty" or "Happy Father's Day to all the singe moms."
As a new single mom myself I understand just how hard it is raising little people alone. The thing is most women who are calling themselves a "Single Mom" are NOT single moms!!! If you are lucky enough to have your child's father in their life, supporting them, spending partial weeks at their home, paying child support, and attending school and recreational activities. You are a single co-parent. When you post all about mothers on Father's Day it's disrespectful. You don't see single fathers doing that on Mother's Day.
The really hurtful part is when true "Single Moms' see this. You see, a true single mom is someone who does not have their child's father in their life. Think about the mothers raising children alone because their father passed away, lost parental rights, are hospitalized, or incarcerated. These mothers dread holidays. we have to explain, over and over again to not only our little ones, but teachers, friends, and everyone else who are usually just trying to do something nice like make a craft for dads or doing special celebrations. We have to plan ahead, doing something special with our children, making sure teachers know to make something for an uncle or grandfather, and prepping our answers for questions our children will start asking because Father's Day has been talked about everywhere for weeks.
True "Single Moms' would do anything to have a co-parent or their child's dad back. Father's Day just turns into another day of grieving all over again and wishing you could go back in time.
So, STOP ruining Father's Day for the amazing fathers in the world. Let them have their day. If you are a true "Single Mom" join me in celebrating the amazing men in our life who play a significant role in our child's life. Let's face it, we know we can not do it alone and usually seek out role models so our children can gain positive experiences from men.
I will be celebrating my father Cliff! Not only is he an amazing dad, he is an even better PawPaw. I am lucky to have such an outstanding male role model for my son. I can't wait see all the things they will learn together.

Opening Day of the New Aqua Park
Shark Wake Park’s inflatable, floating aqua park is now open! Covering an acre of water, the aqua park can hold up to 120 people per hour.
Located in the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex
150 Citizens Circle
Little River, SC 29566
This was a really great experience! The Aqua Park is like a mix between Ninja Warrior and Wipe Out! 45 minutes is plenty of time to enjoy the park. We were wore out by the time the lifeguard blew his whistle. The water is a fresh spring and its cool and clean!
We did bring the GoPro, but we do not have video appropriate to share publicly. I say that because ladies NEED TO WEAR SHORTS!! There are several climbing obstacles and everyone will slip and fall which shows a lot more then necessary! We were the cool moms when we showed videos to our kids! They laughed so much at us!
Here are our tips!
Ladies, wear shorts!!!! Most important!
Leave your sunglasses! we lost a pair when jumping of the "cliff"
Give yourself plenty of driving time if your coming from out of town. If you miss your scheduled time you'll have to wait until the next hour.

Today is National Donut Day, but did you know there is a REAL reason behind the day? It is not just a marketing day for donut companies!
During my visit this morning at The Donut Inn, Mark told me all about it and I had just to learn more!
Salvation Army “Doughnut Girls” served along the front lines during WWI and WWII, giving soldiers free coffee and doughnuts.
National Donut Day was started in 1938 in Chicago to honor of The Salvation Army “Doughnut Girls.” This unofficial holiday is celebrated the first Friday in June.
Visit the Salvation Army's Website for more information and to see pictures.
Let's Talk The Donut Inn......
It was a busy early morning at the shop! They had about 20 dozen boxes of pre-ordered donuts ready to go, and a bunch of locals rolling in and ordering as fast as they could pack them! I had a awesome chat with the owners who told me the secret to their donuts....are you ready for it?!!
Community...... They love our community and want to be apart of as much as they can. They donate all goods at the end of the day to local charities and support other nonprofits in different ways. Did you know you can even have a donut birthday party????!!!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!
Fresh Daily Donuts..... their bakers arrive at 2:30am every morning and start baking away. All their donuts are baked fresh using real ingredients.... no pre-made dough here....
I love this "mom and pop" shop and you will too! Go check them out and tell them I sent you over!
