Today is National Donut Day, but did you know there is a REAL reason behind the day? It is not just a marketing day for donut companies!
During my visit this morning at The Donut Inn, Mark told me all about it and I had just to learn more!
Salvation Army “Doughnut Girls” served along the front lines during WWI and WWII, giving soldiers free coffee and doughnuts.
National Donut Day was started in 1938 in Chicago to honor of The Salvation Army “Doughnut Girls.” This unofficial holiday is celebrated the first Friday in June.
Visit the Salvation Army's Website for more information and to see pictures.
Let's Talk The Donut Inn......
It was a busy early morning at the shop! They had about 20 dozen boxes of pre-ordered donuts ready to go, and a bunch of locals rolling in and ordering as fast as they could pack them! I had a awesome chat with the owners who told me the secret to their donuts....are you ready for it?!!
Community...... They love our community and want to be apart of as much as they can. They donate all goods at the end of the day to local charities and support other nonprofits in different ways. Did you know you can even have a donut birthday party????!!!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!
Fresh Daily Donuts..... their bakers arrive at 2:30am every morning and start baking away. All their donuts are baked fresh using real ingredients.... no pre-made dough here....
I love this "mom and pop" shop and you will too! Go check them out and tell them I sent you over!

Y'all! This is an amazing theater! I cant even describe the screens they're incredible! This is a state of the art movie theater that you will not want to miss out on. The seats are big, cozy, and recline. The best part is you don't have to get up and move if someone in the middle of the row wants to leave!! We had a great time and thanks for having us. Check out our pictures of the evening.
